5 StarsA tale of family, forgiveness and friendship.I do love Miranda. She's powerful and loving and doesn't let her dyslexia get to her too much. I learned a lot more about Miranda in this novella and that Tabitha is her half sister. This novella had a lot of ups a downs which include Miranda doing well in the competitions, reuniting with Perry, seeing a sexy shirtless Shawn, finding out that Tabitha was her half sister, getting kidnapped and finally reconciling with Tabitha 5 StarsA tale of family, forgiveness and friendship.I do love Miranda. She's powerful and loving and doesn't let her dyslexia get to her too much. Spellbinder was very emotional and I'm glad Miranda got though it unscathed. Can't wait to read Midnight Hour need to know if she picks Perry or Shawn! I've actually only read a few ( Midnight Sun and some Princess Diaries fillers). Usually, I just kind of let the book hangover treat itself and move on. So Spellbinder is the only novella I've read in the past 5 years or so. And instead of following my usual system of rating books that strictly follows my, I'm just going to rate Spellbinder with feeling and how I think loyal C.C.
Hunter readers will take it.Spellbinder takes place after the events of the second Shadow Falls: After Dark installment, Eternal, and this time Miranda is the narrator. Miranda has always tried to earn her mother's approval by competing in witch competitions. This time around, her incentive to becoming head priestess are tickets for her and her friends to take a trip to Paris for the next Wicca tournament. In being able to go, she hopes to meet and reconcile with her sort-of boyfriend, Perry, who recently decided that the couple should take a break because of his studies in France. Miranda has never won any of these competitions before, so winning will be a challenge. It doesn't help that this time around things are much messier when blood and secrets are spilled. In one of my previous, I mentioned that C.C.
Hunter was my favorite underrated author because of how engaging her writing is. She really reminds me of Keirsten White and Kelley Armstrong in that respect. All three authors have a simplistic, easy writing that manages to be unique and engaging enough for readers to want to read the next books in their series.
It's a very comfortable style. And strangely, for all three, I wasn't a fan of the main protagonists (Kylie in Shadow Falls, Chloe in Darkest Powers, and Evie in Paranormalcy) but the story line really made up for them. The supporting characters are wonderful (that's probably why I really love the Shadow Falls spinoff with Della's story). The friendships and teenage stuggles are also realistically portrayed, and most of the characters are relatable.
There are a few that come off a little annoying but they're usually more of a realistic-portrayal-of-a-teenager than I-want-to-choke-this-person-for-her-stupidity nettlesome. Spellbinder, as a novella, is shorter but was no exception to any of these usual Shadow Falls characteristics. And honestly, I was a little hesitant with Spellbinder just because I categorized Miranda as one of those characters that I personally didn't care for, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed her story and voice in this. Miranda still isn't one of my favorite characters but I definitely got a new perspective of her. I also really liked that other characters like Tabitha and Shawn had larger roles, and that new characters were introduced. The last couple of scenes had a lot of action (something I love) and it really showcased Miranda's strong character (a total surprise for me). My only complaint was that a few events were obvious and predictable, so I had to deduct half a star for that.I wouldn't say Spellbinder is a book that glowed on it's own. However, it is a great pick-up for Shadow Falls and Miranda fans.
And it's a nice one to satiate you thirst until the final installment of the Shadow Falls: After Dark is released.-I received this from the publisher (thanks, Michelle!) in exchange for an honest review. They are intended to give more info, get inside of a different characters head, or just make the wait for the next book more bearable. All of these are probably true of this book, but unlike most novellas, there was an actual plot and conflict. This novella focuses on Miranda and I'm quite happy that we finally get to hear things from her perspective. Miranda has to compete in a spell competition and surprises herself with her success. As it turns out, Miranda is in danger. Someone has already killed off two girls in the competition and Miranda might be next.
If that wasn't enough, she also has to deal with her ex-boyfriend Perry, another boy who might want to be in the picture, and some unexpected revelations.I really think that this was such a great addition to the series! So much happened and while it's up to choice whether to read this, I feel like so many important things happened! So, all in all, I recommend this novella to any Shadow Falls fans! Now, I'm hoping that Miranda is going to get her own series! I'll be perfectly honest, I started reading this novella and ended up so engrossed that I just ignored all the things I really needed to be doing today.
And I don't regret it one little bit! I LOVED getting to be in Miranda's head for a change. I mean really, can a character get any more awesome than a dyslexic teenage witch?
I don't think so. I also really enjoyed that Shadow Falls: After Dark fans (such as myself) got a few clues about what's happening in Della's story. Props to C.C.

Props to C.C. Hunter for an awesome job on this one - I'm not normally this excited about a novella!I enjoyed this title courtesy of the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I'm a fan of the Shadow Falls and Shadow Falls: After Dark series. Though I have to admit, I didn't really care for Miranda in those books. She just seemed so whiny and dramatic, and I didn't know if I wanted to read a story about her. I decided to give this novella a try, and I'm glad I did. I better understand her now, and I think she really started to grow as a character and become stronger and more confident.

There were tie-ins to Della's ongoing story, and many familiar faces from the two series. I was gifted an ebook via Netgalley.I read the first book in the Shadow Falls series many years ago.
I liked it even though I did roll my eyes at it a bit for being so stereotypical and trope-y. I never did finish the series or start the spin-off series that this novella takes place in. I recently decided I did not want to finish the original series and decided I may want to look into if I would need to skim read to enjoy this novella. It turns out that it was a story that I didn't really need to read the others to enjoy. It was, just like the first Shadow Falls book, very stereotypical and trope-y. There was tons of girl-on-girl hate, a love triangle, and family drama. The big baddie situation was pretty predictable and convenient. I received this eARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, I was in no way compensated for this review. The world of Shadow Falls has been a favorite of mine since the very beginning! I loved Kylie's story and going with her on her journey about love, friends, learning what she is and all the adventures that came of it!

I am loving Della's series as well as she learns more about her family ties and opening herself up to her feelings, whether they result in good or bad. So to now have Miranda have her own story, the third in the trio, this positively delighted me!
Hunter's Spellbinder, while novella, is still Miranda's chance in the spotlight and it was a marvelous story indeed!Miranda is still heartsick over the way Perry left her just like that. Breaking her heart as he moved halfway around the world. Now she finds herself gearing up for a competition to become a high priestess and wouldn't you know it, it takes place in Paris, the very city Perry ran off to.But nearly instantly danger strikes and two of the competitors are murdered, before they even began the competition back in the States. Burnett is there along with Shawn, who happens to have a soft spot for Miranda. It seems all the girls are in the midst of a love triangle, yet Kylie's is already resolved and things ended happily on all accounts.
Della still harbors feelings for Steve and Chase and that's one triangle I can't seem to figure out who to root for! And the same goes for Miranda's here as well. I was all for Perry in the beginning, but his breaking up and leaving Miranda hurt me like it hurt her.
And then when the two finally meet again, it's like Perry wants things to go back to the way they were before. He's learned to control his abilities and he's ready to play boyfriend again, and this angered me.Shawn on the other hand is a sweet guy. I can't decide if I am totally team Shawn yet, but I have to say I was rooting more for him then Perry.
I don't like that Perry thinks he can try to make things up and be Miranda's boyfriend again lickety split. It's aggravating!Moving aside from the romance, there was yet another shocking reveal in this one. I refuse to touch on it, but all we can say it was jaw-dropping!Familiar faces make appearances in this one, it really ties the two companion series together in a way. I wish Lucas could've been in it, but alas, this is not Kylie's story so there was no need for him.
The pacing to this one was great! It was a tad slow in the beginning, but really it was just the starting point, the pace never faltered after that and it was excitement after more excitement! The only thing about the ending I didn't like was the romance was never really resolved. Miranda still has her choice to make. And it's killing me not knowing which guy she will choose.
Will she return to Perry after he broke her heart and expects things to go back to happy romance time or give Shawn a try.and there's more to Shawn then I'm telling you, but I'll let you experience that for yourselves! So my burning question now is, will Miranda's story be resolved in Unspoken or will she get another novella?!
And since I read this in ARC format that means the wait for knowing the answer will be that much longer! Grr.Overall Rating 4.5/5 stars-basically because of how things ended with the romance and the not knowing and the not knowing of when we can see it resolved resulted in a minor.5 takeoff. But other than that I loved this novella!
As I do with all the Shadow Falls books!Spellbinder releases June 30, 2015P.S. Has confirmed Miranda will get her own book!;). Spellbinder is a novella in the Shadow Falls series by C.C. The main series revolves around Kylie, but this one is about her friend Miranda. This series is full of different kinds of supernatural beings. Miranda is a dyslexic, teenage witch.
She has always felt like a failure in her mother's eyes, and now her boyfriend has broken up with her so her life isn't going too great.I really like Miranda, but I didn't love this book like I was hoping to. Don't get me wrong – it was good.

Don't get me wrong – it was good. I like books that focus more on romance and this one had more suspense and mystery than anything.
I know that some people will love that about this book. The girls in this series are always getting themselves in danger and it makes things exciting. There is sort of a love triangle involved, even though the romance is barely there.
The relationship between Miranda and the guys is not resolved – so there must be another book coming. I hope things work out with her boyfriend Perry, but we will just have to see. There was so much other supernatural drama going on that there was no time for Miranda to focus on either guy. There is an interesting twist in this book, but I don't want to give it away. I was glad to see Kylie and Della show up in this book. Della's romance problems haven't been resolved in her book either, so I'm interested to see how things turn out for her.
I know there is so much more to Della and Miranda's stories. If you like young adult paranormal romances, then I totally recommend this series. I would suggest starting at the very beginning with Kylie's book – Born at Midnight. This trio of girls is fun to read about and you'll get to see plenty of Miranda there too. I just love the Shadow Falls series. I loved Kylie's story, I'm starting to like Della's story, and now I find out that there is a novella for Melissa and eeeeeeee I loved it!!!:DAt first, I was alittle hesitant to reading a book on Melissa's POV, because throughout the series I didn't really care for her and she always acted immature and fought with Della, but of course my curiousity got the better of me, and next thing I knew I was reading this novel. In Spellbinder, we find out more about I just love the Shadow Falls series. In this story, Miranda is competing in a witch competition which takes her to France. In France, Miranda not only participates in the competition but discovers secrets regarding her family.I loved reading about Miranda and this story confirms that Miranda is a better person than I could ever hope to be (seriously, she is not one for revenge!) And talk about character development!
Miranda's confidence in herself grows so much through the course of this story. She also gains confidence in her magic skills and becomes a powerful witch. So many things happened in this novella there wasn't a single second I was bored. Overall, this novella was engaging and I ended up finishing it in one sitting.I hope to see references to this novella and appearances from the characters who were introduced to us in future books.
I've always loved C.C. Hunter's stories and writing style.

Trust me, I spoiled so much excitement because I read it. Second, why is this book not a Shadow Falls After Dark novel? I mean, if you haven’t read the new books, you wouldn’t have gotten what the hell was going on. Okay, it’s still explained why Della is the super new vampire or why Perry left, but still it’s damn confusing in the beginning! But let’s get back to the book. Have you been wanting for Miranda to tell her story? Or at least a portion of it?
But we finally get answers to many questions, and you’ll be shocked at many of the secrets that her family is hiding. Are you ready to dive in the Wicca competition? You should be, all the hell is going to get loose once the competition starts and you don’t want to miss all the fun! Enjoy it to its fullest and don’t forget to share your thoughts!

Highly recommended series! This book was okayMiranda was my least favorite out of the main characters. She always seem dull to me and reading in her point of view is sort of nerve racking. Their books had steam and the suspense factor. I know Miranda should have a book to be fair but it just fell short for me. I know that she has one more book that ends the series, I just don’t know if I can sit through another book about Miranda. I enjoyed Spellbinder immensely. It was definitely spellbinding.
